Tehnical instructions
Wood flooring is not suitable for installation over electrical underfloor heating systems.
Concrete slab should be laid in accordance with specifications and standards of the manufacturer. The slab must be flat and level, compact, dry, free of cracks and clean. Radiant heat tubing should be placed properly at least 35mm below the surface to ensure an equal distribution of heat. Unless the tubing is laid deep enough, it can result in extensive joint opening in the installed wood flooring.
The highest allowed moisture contents, prior to wood floor installation, are 1,8 % with radiant heated cement slab and 0,3 % with radiant heated anhydrite slab.
After the 21-day drying period recommended for concrete slab (at least 7 days for anhydrite slab), the heating system should be turned on according to the following procedure.
GENERAL
Your wooden floor needs proper care and maintenance. To clean dirt, like sand for example, use a vacuum cleaner with a soft cleaner head, soft broom, or a cloth. Place quality doormats at your entry doors to prevent carrying sand on the parquet.
Fit furniture legs with protective felt underlays to prevent scratches on the floor. Do not move furniture by dragging, but rather lift it up first and then move it.
Make sure to immediately clean spilled water or other fluids. Remove stains from coffee, red wine, or ketchup immediately to prevent permanent stains. To remove stubborn stains contact your parquet retailer.
Extremely dirty floors must be cleaned manually with a damp cloth. Do not use soaked cloths with draining water, since it may damage the wood (swelling). Do not use water vacuum cleaners.
An important condition for a long lifespan of wooden floor coverings is suitable room climate with approximately 20°C temperature and relative humidity from
50 to 60%. These conditions can be monitored with an electronic hygrometer or weather clock (this is especially important during heating season). Optimal relative humidity can be maintained with an electric humidifier.
LACQUERED SURFACES
After installing, the lacquered parquet must be cleaned with a special cleaner for lacquered surfaces. The cleaner may be in concentrate form for diluting in water (please follow instructions), however it is easier to use already diluted cleaner in spray form. The floor must be thoroughly vacuumed so that hard particles of dirt are removed. Dampen a soft cloth and clean to both sides.
For additional protection of parquet, use a parquet care agent containing a certain percentage of lacquer. After the first impregnation, use the parquet care agent 1-2 times per year to freshen the lacquer and cover small scratches. After applying parquet care agent, do not walk on the floor for a few hours. Please follow your retailer instructions.
To remove more aggressive stains, please consult an expert regarding suitability of different cleaners for particular stains.
Do not use cleaners containing wax. Do not clean with running water.
When lacquer wears out significantly, grind and lacquer the parquet again. It is difficult to restore the parquet nicely once the lacquer is completely worn off. Leave grinding and lacquering to parquetry expert.
OILED SURFACES
Parquets are oiled with oils that emphasise natural looks of wood and increase its resistance to wear, dirt, and moisture.
Clean your oiled parquet with a special cleaner for oiled surfaces immediately after it is installed. This provides protection against dirt and additional protection of the floor. Follow instructions to correctly apply the cleaner you are using. General instruction is to always vacuum or thoroughly clean the floor. Then mix the cleaner with water in an appropriate (see the manual) ratio. Apply the cleaner to your wooden floor, using a soft cloth soaked in the solution. The solution must not be dripping from the cloth.
Use two buckets with large surfaces, one containing water mixed with the cleaning agent and the other containing clean water for rinsing the cloth. Always rinse the cloth in clean water first before dipping it in water containing cleaning agent. Do not additionally clean the surface with cloth soaked in clean water after using the cleaning agent solution as this would rinse off the protective layer. Leave the cleaning agent solution for a few minutes to soak in the floor thoroughly and then wipe the floor in direction of wood fibres.
Maintain your floor with cleaner for oiled surfaces regularly. At first, keep applying it every week or depending on the care your floor needs considering its wear, but not less than once a month. With every use of cleaner for oiled surfaces, your floor will be less susceptible to dirt and stains.
After regular “wet” cleaning, the remaining stubborn stains can be removed with a few drops of concentrated cleaning agent applied directly to them. Leave approximately 5 minutes to take effect and clean the floor again with the normal cleaning solution (water cleaning agent).
Oiled surfaces must also be periodically refreshed with maintenance oil. By applying oil to surfaces where protective oil layer has worn off, the floor regain a nice look. Use appropriate oil (nature or white) depending on nature or white oiled surfaces.
Floor must be completely clean before applying oil. To remove cleaner leftover clean the floor with intensive cleaner. Then start oiling the floor. Oil the floor before the protective layer gets completely worn off and the nice appearance of the floor is lost, since it cannot be completely recovered.
Room temperature when oiling must be between 16 and 20°C.
Apply some oil to the floor and spread it evenly using polishing machine with appropriate felt or manually with cotton cloth. Leave 10 to 15 minutes to take effect. Repeat the procedure, if the surface is not entirely well impregnated. Remove all oil leftovers from the floor with a cloth. It is recommended to apply oil by using sprayer to avoid using too much oil for individual layers.
After one hour, polish the floor manually or use polish machine (150 revolutions per minute) with white or red felt for better results. Polish corners and other hardly accessible parts manually. Polish until the surface is dry. Final polishing must be done in direction of wood fibres.
Caution: Danger of self-ignition. Cloths soaked with oil must be rinsed with water immediately after the work is finished and dried outdoors.
Let dry for at least 24 hours before walking on the floor. It takes approximately one week for the oil to set during which special caution should be taken when moving heavy objects.
For extra protection against dirt, the surface must be additionally treated with a cleaning agent after approximately 7 days.
Do not use cloths containing microfibres or your floor may become rough and extremely susceptible to dirt. Use only cloths made of natural fibres like cotton or felt.
